Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

REPLACE

NOTE: On air bag equipped vehicles, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.

Exploded View Of Evaporator Assembly:





1. Vehicles with audio coded antitheft system refer to Radio/Stereo, Service Precautions. Service Precautions
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge A/C refrigerant system.

3. Remove glove compartment, then retaining screws and fresh air/recirculation flap.
4. Remove refrigerant lines, then loosen all connections between vehicle and evaporator.
5. Remove evaporator assembly Fig. 22.
6. Separate housing, then remove evaporator core.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Replace seal between vehicle body and evaporator housing at recirculation air flap.
b. Replace O-ring seals on evaporator lines.
c. Torque refrigerant inlet line to 12 ft. lbs. and outlet line to 32 ft. lbs.
d. Install water drain hose so that there are no kinks.
