SUBJECT
N62TU: Fault 2A17 - DMTL System Error is Stored

MODEL
E70 (X5) 4.8i with the N62TU engine produced up to 9/2007

SITUATION

The Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) may be on with fault 2A17: DMTL, system error - Abort due to current fluctuation during minor leak test - stored in the DME.

CAUSE

Under investigation: Possible vehicle system voltage fluctuation due to a low battery state of charge (SOC)

CORRECTION
Do not replace the DMTL pump module as instructed in the test module.

[NEW] Perform the energy diagnosis test plan as described in SI B61 13 05. This test will help in identifying possible cause(s) for a low battery SOC.

[NEW] Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P only if the current integration (vehicle data status) is E070-07-03-525 or lower.

[NEW] Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
