Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the IP carrier assembly. Refer to IP Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the switches (2).





3. Remove the pushrod retainer and washer from the pushrod pin.
4. Remove the accelerator cable from the pedal bracket assembly.
5. Remove the brake pedal fasteners from the booster studs.
6. Remove the bracket and pedal assembly.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the brake pedal assembly onto the booster studs.
2. Install the booster stud nuts.
^ Tighten the brake pedal to booster stud nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the brake pedal bracket fasteners onto the cowl studs.
^ Tighten the cowl stud fasteners to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
4. Apply lubricant, GM P/N 9985164 or equivalent, to pushrod pin.
5. Install pushrod onto pushrod pin. Secure with spacer and retainer.





6. Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the switches (2).
7. Install the IP assembly. Refer to IP Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
