Radiator: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Remove the upper radiator seal.
3. Remove the upper radiator support bar. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Body and Frame.
4. Disconnect and plug the coolant overflow hose from the radiator.
5. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator and position out of the way.
6. Remove the bolt from the transmission oil cooler pipe clip at the lower radiator tie bar.
7. Remove the cooling fans. Refer to Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric.
8. Unscrew the transmission cooler lines from the radiator and position out of the way.
9. Remove the condenser mounting bolts.
10. Separate the condenser from the radiator.
11. Unplug and remove the low coolant sensor if applicable.
12. Lift the radiator up and out of the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a 15 mm (0.6 inch) length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation. The use of a longer bolt will damage the radiator end tank.
1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower pads.
2. Install the low coolant sensor and connect the electrical connector.
3. Install the condenser to the radiator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the condenser mounting bolts.
- Tighten the bolts to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the transmission cooler lines into the transmission cooler in the radiator.
- Tighten the bolts to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the cooling fans. Refer to Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric.
7. Install the cooler line clip and bolt to the lower tie bar.
- Tighten the mounting bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
8. Install the upper and lower radiator hoses to the radiator.
9. Connect the coolant recovery hose to the radiator neck.
10. Install the upper radiator support bar. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Body and Frame.
11. Install the upper radiator seal.
12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
13. Inspect for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing.
