Output Shaft: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure






1. Remove the left drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement.
2. Remove the final drive. Refer to Final Drive Replacement.
3. Pull the output shaft out of the transmission.
4. Inspect the output shaft (510) and the bearing (511) for the following:
^ A cracked or deformed bearing cage
^ Damaged bushing journals
^ Stripped splines
^ A damaged retainer ring groove

Installation Procedure
1. Install the output shaft. Refer to Output Shaft Assemble in the Transmission Unit Repair.
2. Install the case extension housing. Refer to Case Extension Housing Replacement.
3. Connect the left drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement.
