Subject: Power Liftgate False Reversal (Reprogram Liftgate Module)

Models:
2009 Cadillac SRX With Power Liftgate (RPO E61)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the power liftgate will partially open, then reverse direction and return to the closed position. Lower ambient temperatures may aggravate this condition.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the system detecting a false obstacle during the first 305 mm (12 in) of travel. This will cause the liftgate to reverse direction and return to the closed position.

Correction

Important
Do not service or replace the liftgate module, struts, actuators or latches.

A revised calibration has been developed to address these conditions. Technicians are to reprogram the power liftgate module using TIS2WEB and selecting "Power liftgate module reprogram". Refer to SI for more information. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
