Mainshaft: Service and Repair

Removal





1. Disconnect the shift linkage at the manual shaft on the top of the transmission.
2. Remove the detent lever and roller assembly. Refer to Detent Lever and Roller Assembly Replacement.
3. Remove the following parts:
- The manual shaft (16) out through the top of the bell housing
- The manual shaft seal (20)

Installation





1. Install the manual shaft seal (20).
2. Install the manual shaft (16) through the top of the bell housing.
3. Install the detent lever and roller assembly. Refer to Detent Lever and Roller Assembly Replacement.
4. install the manual shaft nut by hand.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Tighten the manual shaft lever nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
