Control Arm: Service and Repair
- Tools Required- J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear support. Refer to Support Replacement.
2. Remove the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
3. Remove the adjustment link retaining nut from the lower control arm.
4. Using J 24319-B separate the adjustment link from the lower control arm.
Remove the wheel bearing and hub from the lower control arm. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement- Rear.
5. Remove the lower control arm mounting bolts and nuts.
6. Remove the lower control arm.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the lower control arm to the support.
Important: The control arm nuts should be tightened with the vehicle unsupported and resting on the wheels at the normal trim height.
2. Install the lower control arm mounting bolts and nuts.
3. Install the wheel bearing and hub. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement- Rear.
4. Install the adjustment link to the lower control arm.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the adjustment link retaining nut.
Tighten the adjustment link retaining nuts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
7. Install the rear support. Refer to Support Replacement.
8. Lower the vehicle to obtain the trim height.
Tighten the lower control arm mounting nuts to 106 Nm (78 ft. lbs.).
