Drive Pinion Assemble

^ J24433 Pinion Cone and Side Bearing Installer
^ J45005 Seal Installer
^ J45012 Holding Fixture





1. Install the pinion head bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J24433 and a hydraulic press.





2. Assemble the pinion shaft (4), the housing (2), the spacer (3) and the bearing (1).





3. Press the bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J24433 and a hydraulic press.





4. Install a NEW pinion seal using the J45005.





5. Install the pinion flange onto the shaft.
6. Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to clean the threads of the pinion nut.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





7. Install the pinion flange nut.
Tighten the pinion flange nut to 285 Nm (210 ft. lbs.) while holding the flange with J45012 and breaker bar.
