Housing Assembly HVAC: Service and Repair
AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER MODULE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 42220 Leak Detection Lamp
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
2. Remove the evaporator nut (2).
3. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator.
4. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
5. Remove the evaporator drain. A
6. Remove the dash integration module. Service and Repair
7. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Service and Repair
8. Remove the defroster duct screws (2).
9. Remove the defroster duct (1).
10. Disconnect the electrical connections to the HVAC module.
11. Remove the HVAC module retaining nuts.
12. Remove the HVAC module assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the HVAC module assembly.
NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Install the HVAC module retaining nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm (80 lb. in.).
3. Install the dash integration module. Service and Repair
4. Reconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Install the defroster nozzle (1).
6. Install the defroster duct screws (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 1.4 Nm (12 lb. in.).
7. Install the evaporator drain.
8. Install the instrument panel assembly. Service and Repair
9. Install the heater hoses to the heater core.
10. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator core.
11. Install the evaporator nut to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
12. Recharge the A/C system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
13. Leak test the fittings of the reinstalled component using J 42220.
