Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left (LY7)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Install the J42640 to the steering column. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement - Lower in Steering Wheel and Column for the tool installation instructions.





2. Remove the upper exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Remove the lower exhaust manifold heat shield bolt.
5. Disconnect the center intermediate shaft from the lower intermediate shaft to provide a removal envelope for the shield.
6. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
2. Install but do not tighten the lower heat shield bolt.
3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the upper exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Tighten the lower exhaust manifold heat shield bolt.

Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
7. Install the center intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Remove the J42640.
