Some 1983 Celebritys with 2.8L V6 engines may exhibit engine detonation. On vehicles not repaired to the procedure outlined in the shop manual, retarding the base engine timing 4~ is permissible. Base engine timing is now 10~ BTDC, recommended base timing for cars with detonation is 6~ BTDC. This change will alleviate the detonation problem.
