LATCH PLATE ASSEMBLY:
A customer may comment that the hood is sticking shut and/or difficult to open on some subject vehicles. This condition may be caused by the hood pop-up spring getting caught in the latch plate.
This condition was corrected in production about November 1, 1984, by revising the upper radiator support.
Field correction can be accomplished by removing the hood latch plate and inserting a plated washer (1.6" O.D. x .5" I.D. x .08" thick), P/N 14078623, into the spring seat area and then bolting the hood latch plate back into position (see illustration.) If damaged, the spring may need replacement.
