Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
1985
1. Disconnect electrical wiring, ignition coil and high tension cable (coil wire) from connector assembly.
2. Set range scale of ohmmeter to the x1 and x1K range and measure resistance of the following:
a. At a temperature of approximately 70°F, primary coil resistance should be 1.1 - 1.4 ohms.
b. At a temperature of approximately 70°F, secondary coil resistance should be 12.1 - 14.9 kilo ohms.
c. At a temperature of approximately 70°F, insulation resistance should exceed 10 mega ohms.
