Oil Pan: Service and Repair
OIL PANTOOL REQUIRED:
BT-6501 Engine Support.
BT-7109 Support Bar Adapter.
BT-7203 Yoke.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Oil level indicator.
3. Fan shroud attaching screws.
4. Raise and support car.
5. Drain oil pan.
6. Flywheel cover.
7. Crossover pipe.
8. Starter.
9. Install engine support and adapter.
10. Engine mounts at cylinder block.
11. Raise front of engine as high as possible.
12. Oil pan.
CLEAN
* Gasket surfaces.
* Seal surfaces.
CAUTION: Use care when handing an oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket has a steel core that when it is exposed, can cause personal injury.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Apply 1050026 sealer or equivalent to both sides of the gasket.
2. Oil pan gasket.
3. Wipe seals with engine oil.
4. Front and rear seals.
5. Apply 1052915, G.E.1673 or equivalent RTV sealer to oil pan seals as shown.
6. Oil pan.
7. Oil pan bolts - 14 Nm (10 lbs. ft.), nuts 24 Nm (17 lbs. ft.).
8. Lower engine and install engine mounts.
9. Remove BT-6501 engine support.
10. Crossover pipe.
11. Starter.
12. Flywheel cover.
13. Lower vehicle.
14. Oil level indicator.
15. Fill crankcase with engine oil.
INSPECT
* For fluid leaks.
