Parking Brake System: Adjustments

BERETTA
1. Adjust service brakes.
2. Apply and release parking brake approximately 8 times, then release.
3. Ensure parking brake is fully released by turning ignition On. Brake warning lamp should be off. If brake warning lamp is lit, determine reason and repair as necessary.
4. Apply parking brake four clicks.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Remove access hole cover from backing plate.
7. Adjust parking brake cable until a 1/8 inch drill bit can be inserted perpendicularly through access hole into space between shoe web and parking brake lever. Adjustment is correct when the 1/8 inch drill can be inserted, but a 1/4 inch drill cannot.
8. Release parking brake, then ensure rear wheels rotate freely. Repeat adjustment if necessary.
9. Install access hole cover, then lower vehicle.
