Model and Year: 1989 Y-CAR

FIGURE 1:

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Damage can occur to vacuum tanks during dealer prep, when installing the front air deflector.

The vacuum tank is located under the hood, in the well in front of the left wheelhouse (See Figure 1). The tank has to be removed from its mounting and moved for wrench clearance when installing the air deflector.

The tank may be moved with CARE, just inboard of its mounting, into the corner of the well. This is a minimum amount of movement of the tank and allows for ample wrench clearance for installing the air deflector.

NOTICE: DO NOT PLACE THE TANK ON TOP OF THE ENGINE OR HANG IT OVER THE SIDE OF THE FENDER, AS THE BENDING OF THE HOSE AND THE WEIGHT OF THE TANK PUTS UNDUE STRESS ON THE SMALL NOZZLE OF THE TANK.

The minimum movement of the tank with CARE AND CAUTION should eliminate any unnecessary damage to the vacuum tank.
