Oil Pan: Service and Repair
OIL PANOil Pan:
Oil Pan Sealer Application:
TOOLS REQUIRED:
^ J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture
^ J 36462 Engine Support Adapter Leg
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Coolant recovery reservoir.
3. Engine torque strut.
4. Air cleaner assembly.
5. Air inlet.
6. Serpentine belt.
7. A/C compressor from brackets and set aside.
8. Engine oil level indicator.
^ Support engine using J 28467-A and J 36462.
^ Raise vehicle and suitably support.
^ Drain engine oil.
9. Starter and support bracket.
10. Flywheel covers.
^ Turn front wheels to full right.
11. Engine wiring harness retainer screws under oil pan on right and left sides.
12. Right side engine splash shield.
13. Front engine mount bracket bolts.
14. Front engine mount nuts.
15. Transaxle mount nuts.
^ Using J 28467-A and J 36462 raise engine approximately 2 inches.
16. Front engine mount and bracket.
17. Loosen frame bolts.
18. Oil pan retaining bolts.
19. Oil pan.
CLEAN
^ Sealing surfaces on oil pan, front cover and cylinder block
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Apply RTV sealer GM pin 12345739 (or equivalent).
2. Oil pan and retaining bolts.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb. in.).
3. New frame bolts.
4. Engine mount and bracket.
^ Lower engine into proper position.
5. Transaxle mount nuts.
6. Engine mount nuts.
7. Engine mount bracket bolts.
8. Engine splash shield.
9. Engine wiring harness retainer screws.
10. Flywheel covers.
11. Starter and support bracket.
^ Lower vehicle.
^ Remove J 28467-A and J 36462.
12. Engine oil level indicator.
13. A/C compressor.
14. Serpentine belt.
15. Air inlet.
16. Air cleaner assembly.
17. Engine torque strut.
18. Coolant recovery reservoir.
19. Negative battery cable.
20. Fill engine with clean oil.
INSPECT
^ Engine oil level.
^ For leaks.
