Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Fuel Rail Assembly:
Each injector is calibrated for a specific flow rate. Be sure to use the correct part number when ordering replacement injectors.
When replacing injector O-rings, be sure to install the brown O-ring in the lower position.
The fuel injector lower O-ring uses a nylon collar, called the O-ring backup, to properly position the O-ring on the injector.

Fuel Rail Removal And Installation:
Remove or Disconnect:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Relieve fuel system pressure
3. Remove fuel rail assembly
Disassemble:
1. Rotate injector retainer clip to release position
2. Remove fuel injector
3. Remove and discard O-ring seals from both ends of injectors
4. Discard injector retainer clip
Assemble:
1. Lubricate new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil, and install on injectors
2. Install new retainer clip onto injectors
3. Install fuel injector into fuel rail injector socket with electrical connectors facing outward
4. Rotate injector retainer clip to lock position
Install or Connect:
1. Install fuel rail assembly
2. Tighten fuel filler cap
3. Connect negative battery cable
Inspect:
Turn ignition switch to the "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to the "OFF" position for ten seconds. Again turn to the "ON" position and check for leaks.
