Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

When removing steering wheel, use only specified puller. Do not hammer on end of steering column shaft. Hammering on shaft may damage plastic injections, affecting column assembly rigidity.

When attaching specified puller to steering wheel, use caution to prevent threading bolts through steering wheel hub into Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) coil assembly, damaging coil assembly.

REMOVAL
1. Remove screws from back of steering wheel assembly using a No. 30 Torx driver, then the inflatable restraint steering wheel module assembly from steering wheel assembly.
2. Disconnect SIR coil assembly electrical connector and retainer from inflatable restraint steering wheel module assembly.
3. Disconnect horn lead from column assembly.
4. Remove steering wheel using steering wheel puller tool No. J 1859-A and steering wheel puller bolts tool No. J 38720, or equivalents.

INSTALLATION
