Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail Installation:

Fuel Rail (Exploded View):

Fuel Pressure Regulator:

CAUTION: Fuel pressure must be relieved prior to opening the fuel system.

Remove or Disconnect:
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal
2. Remove fuel rail assembly

Disassemble
1. Remove fuel inlet/outlet tube bracket retaining bolt
2. Disconnect fuel return pipe from regulator
4. Remove pressure regulator attaching screw
5. Remove pressure regulator from fuel rail
6. Remove regulator O-ring and discard

Assemble
1. Lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil and install
2. Install pressure regulator and tighten attaching screw
Torque Value: 9.5 N-m (84 lb.in.)
3. Install fuel return pipe to regulator with new O-ring and tighten inlet/outlet bracket attaching screw
Torque Value: 5 N-m (44 lb.in.)

Install or Connect:
1. Install fuel rail assembly and connect hoses
2. Tighten filler cap
3. Connect negative battery cable

Inspect:
Turn ignition switch to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position and check for fuel leaks.
