File in Section: 3 - Steering/Suspension

Bulletin No.: 53-35-02

Date: August, 1995

Subject:
Clicking/Squeaking Sound from Front and/or Rear of Vehicle (Replace Wheel Covers)

Models:
1994-95 Chevrolet Beretta, Corsica
1995 Chevrolet Cavalier
with PG1 Wheel Covers

CONDITION

Some owners may comment on a clicking or squeaking sound coming from the front and/or rear of the vehicle. This noise is most noticeable with the windows down and while driving slow, especially next to a wall or close to buildings.

CAUSE

The old style wheel covers may allow movement between the wheel cover and the wheel. To insure correct diagnosis of this noise, check to see that the wheel covers are NOT of the new design type.

The new design type can be identified by the plastic legs extending from the back side of the wheel cover. These legs can be viewed by looking through the upper most portion of the design openings in the wheel cover. This check needs to be made to identify if the new wheel cover has already been installed.

CORRECTION

Install new wheel covers, P/N 9592866.
