Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel.
3. Disconnect the accelerator pedal sensor module electrical connector.
4. Remove the Bose module. Refer to Radio Replacement.
5. Disconnect the brake switches.
6. Remove the retainer, washer, and power booster pushrod from the brake pedal pin.
7. Reposition the dash isolation mat by cutting a small slit in the mat.
8. Remove the pivot bolt and nut.
9. Remove the brake pedal and all associated mounting parts.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Lubricate the bushings, pivot bolt, and all friction parts with Delco Brake Lube, or equivalent.
2. Install the brake pedal.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the pivot bolt and nut.
- Tighten the pivot nut 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
4. Reposition the dash isolation mat to it's original form.
5. Install the pushrod, the washer and the retainer to the brake pedal pin. Rotate the retainer to assure that it is snapped into position on the pin.
6. Connect the brake switches.
7. Install the Bose module. Refer to Radio Replacement.
8. Connect the accelerator pedal sensor module connector.
9. Install the I/P lower trim panel.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
- Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
11. Program the Transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.
