Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.





2. Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1).
3. Remove one retaining bolt (3) and VSS from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the O-ring onto the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the VSS (4) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS with the retaining bolt (3).
Tighten the VSS retaining bolt (3) to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
