Unwanted Switch to Gasoline, Fuel indicator Lamp (FIL) Inoperative, Cooling Fan Inoperative, Engine Running Hot and/or Overheating (Replace Cooling Fan/CNG Fuse)
Models:
2000 Chevrolet Cavalier with 2.2L Engine (VIN 4 - RPO LN2) and Bi-Fuel (CNG) (RPO KL6)
Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions.
^ Unwanted switch to gasoline
^ Ran out of gasoline when vehicle was thought to be running on CNG
^ Fuel indicator lamp (FIL) inoperative
^ Cooling fan inoperative
^ Engine running hot and/or
^ Engine overheats
Cause
Some of the above vehicles may have been assembled with a maxi fuse with an incorrect amperage rating. The fuse is located in the cooling fan location of the engine compartment fuse/relay center.
Correction
Replace the 30A maxi fuse with a 40A maxi fuse. Apply a new label P/N 52369997 to the fuse/relay center cover. Replace the Bi-Fuel Owner's Manual supplement with P/N 52370007. Use the following procedure and part numbers.
1. Remove the engine compartment fuse/relay center cover (1).
2. Remove the 30A maxi fuse in the cooling fan location.
3. Install the new 40A maxi fuse into the cooling fan location.
4. Remove the old label from the engine compartment fuse/relay center cover.
5. Clean the surface of the cover with one of the cleaners listed below, or equivalent.

^ Dominion Sure Seal Sure Solve Stock BSS
^ Kent Acrysol(TM)
6. Install the new label on the fuse/relay center cover and reinstall cover.
7. Place the new Owner's Manual supplement into the instrument panel (IP) compartment. Remove and discard the old manual, if present.
