Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
TOOLS REQUIREDJ34730-1A, Fuel Pressure Gauge.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fuel injection sight shield.
3. Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve tank vapor pressure.
4. Remove the fuel pressure fitting cap from the fuel rail.
5. Connect J34730-1A fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure connection. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection while connecting the fuel pressure gauge in order to avoid spillage.
6. Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the valve to bleed the fuel system pressure. The fuel connections are now safe for servicing.
7. Drain any fuel remaining in the fuel pressure gauge into an approved container.
