Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the condenser and position the A/C compressor hose aside.
4. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the accumulator and position the A/C compressor hose aside.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
6. Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Upper) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Side) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Lower) in Cooling System.
7. Remove the nut from the A/C compressor hose assembly at the A/C compressor.
8. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the rear of the A/C compressor.
IMPORTANT: Remove and discard all the used O-ring and sealing washers.
9. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly.
IMPORTANT: The new O-ring seals must be lubricated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install new O-ring seals to the A/C compressor hose assembly.
Install the new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement.
3. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the rear of the A/C compressor.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly nut.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose nut to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).
5. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
6. Install the A/C compressor hose nut onto the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
7. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
8. Install the A/C compressor hose nut.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
9. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Upper) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Side) or Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors (Lower) in Cooling System.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
13. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
