Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the A/C condenser.
4. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C condenser.




5. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the accumulator.
6. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator.
7. Remove the lower air deflector.

IMPORTANT: Remove and discard all the used O-ring and sealing washers.




8. Remove the A/C compressor hose bolt from the A/C compressor.
9. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly.
2. Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the A/C compressor hose bolt to the A/C compressor.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).




4. Install the lower air deflector.

IMPORTANT: The new O-ring seals must be lubricated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

5. Install the new O-ring seal to the A/C compressor hose assembly.
6. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
7. Install the A/C compressor hose nut onto the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).




8. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
9. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
