Oil Pump: Service and Repair




Oil Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement Service and Repair.

2. Remove the oil pump sprocket cover bolts and the oil pump sprocket cover





3. Remove the oil pump sprocket retaining nut and the oil pump sprocket.





4. Remove the oil suction pipe bracket bolt.

5. Remove the 4 oil pump retaining bolts and the oil pump.

6. Remove the oil ring from the oil pump.

7. Remove the 2 oil suction pipe-to-oil pump retaining bolts.

8. Remove the oil suction pipe gasket.

Installation Procedure





1. Discard the used oil pump oil ring and install a new one.

Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the oil suction pipe-to-oil pump retaining bolts, oil suction pipe bracket bolt, and the oil pump retaining bolt.

* Tighten the oil suction pipe-to-oil pump retaining bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

* Tighten the oil suction pipe bracket bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

* Tighten the oil pump retaining bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).





Important:
Make sure the dotted surface on the sprocket faces toward the oil pump.


3. Install the oil pump sprocket.

Tighten the oil pump sprocket retaining nut to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).





4. Install the oil pump sprocket cover.

Tighten the oil pump sprocket cover retaining bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).

5. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement Service and Repair.
