Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair




Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper and the lower steering column cover panel by removing the screws.




3. Remove the audio system trim plate and audio to allow enough working space for the removal of instrument cluster trim panel screws. Refer to Radio Replacement Service and Repair in Entertainment.




4. Remove the instrument panel under cover. Refer to Extension Replacement - Floor Console - Side Extension Replacement - Floor Console - Side in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement Knee Bolster Replacement in Interior Trim.
6. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.




7. Remove the steering column jacket assembly securing bolts and nuts.




8. Set the ignition key to ACC position.
9. Remove the key cylinder by pushing the disassemble button and pulling out the key, at the same time.

Installation Procedure




1. Set the ignition key to the ACC position.
2. Install the key cylinder by pushing it into the key cylinder housing.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the steering column jacket assembly securing bolts and nuts.

Tighten the steering column jacket assembly securing bolts and nuts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




4. Install the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
5. Install the instrument panel under cover. Refer to Extension Replacement - Floor Console - Side Extension Replacement - Floor Console - Side in Interior Trim.
6. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement Knee Bolster Replacement in Interior Trim.




7. Install the audio system trim plate. Refer to Radio Replacement Service and Repair in Entertainment.




8. Install the upper and the lower steering column cover panel.

Tighten the upper and the lower steering column cover panel screws to 2.5 Nm (22 lb in).

9. Connect the negative battery cable.
