Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Sensing and Diagnostic Module Handling Caution Sensing and Diagnostic Module Handling Caution.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Service and Repair.




3. Disconnect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.
4. Remove the I/P module by removing the mounting bolts from the air bag bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the I/P module.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

2. Install the passenger air bag mounting bolts.

Tighten the passenger air bag mounting bolts to 11 Nm (97 lb in).

3. Connect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.




4. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Service and Repair.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
