Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement

Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning

With a pressurized cooling system, the coolant temperature in the radiator can be considerably higher than the boiling point of the solution at atmospheric pressure. Removal of the surge tank cap, while the cooling system is hot and under high pressure, causes the solution to boil instantaneously with explosive force. This will cause the solution to spew out over the engine, the fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious bodily injury may result.

1. Drain approximately one litre of coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.

2. Remove the throttle body assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement Removal and Replacement.

3. Detach the coolant air bleed hose (4) from the coolant air bleed pipe (1).

4. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts (3).

5. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe (1) from the cylinder heads.

6. Discard the coolant air bleed pipe seals (2).

Installation Procedure

1. Install NEW coolant air bleed pipe seals (2).

2. Install the coolant air bleed pipe (1) to the cylinder heads.
