Package Shelf Rattle

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Rattle in the package shelf area.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the sheet metal on the underside of the package shelf through the trunk opening. The rear suspension strut mount crossmember should be solidly fastened to the package shelf panel. If there are any gaps or looseness where the panels meet, perform the repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves securing the strut mount crossmember to the package shelf panel.
1. Clamp the two pieces of sheet metal together using a vise-grips or other suitable tool.
2. Using 1/8" self tapping sheet metal screws, secure the panels together (may take up to 6 or 8 screws across the width of the panel).
