Recall - Instrument Panel Cluster Rework

83chrysler1

345
No... November, 1983

TO: All Chrysler Corporation Dealers

SUBJECT: Instrument Panel Cluster Rework

MODELS: 1984 Plymouth Horizon and Turismo; Dodge Omni, Charger and Rampage

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

Instrument panel clusters installed in the subject model vehicles (both standard and rallye clusters) have the high beam lamp cover or "chimney" glued to the base of the cluster housing as an assembly aid. Heat generated in the chimney area (from the high beam lamp, cluster lamps, defroster, etc.) may cause the glue to soften and melt, possibly allowing it to drop into the speedometer head mechanism and fail the head and/or the speedometer cable.

Enclosed with this letter is a listing which specifically identifies, by vehicle identification number, all involved vehicles which were invoiced to you.

To eliminate the potential for speedometer head and/or cable failure, each vehicle must be corrected by removing the glue from the cluster housing. Refer to the Service Procedure on the back of this letter for complete service instructions.

Many of the vehicles involved in this recall are likely still in dealer stock. It is imperative that the recall service be performed immediately, prior to their retail delivery. If you have delivered a listed vehicle, please contact and advise your customer to return it as soon as possible for this service.

TO: INVOLVED DODGE DEALERS

SUBJECT: 1984 RAMCHARGER & "W" MODELS

A small number of 1984 Dodge Ramcharger and "W" models were shipped with an incorrect size lug wrench. The lug wrench supplied with the vehicle is 13/16" size instead of 3/4".

Our records indicate you have received one or more of the involved trucks. We are shipping your dealership a 3/4" lug wrench to be provided for each affected vehicle.

If you have delivered an involved vehicle, please contact the customer and provide him with the correct (3/4") lug wrench.

If you have any questions, please contact your Zone Technical Advisor.
