SUBJECT:
Flash MIL Illumination P2097 And/Or P2099
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
NOTE:
**New software has been released for all vehicles. Vehicles previously updated will need to be updated again**.
MODELS:
2011 (LC) Challenger
NOTE:
**This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with the 6.4L engine (sales code ESG) and 50 state emissions (sales code NAS)**.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a MIL illumination. Upon further investigation the Technician may find that any of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes have been set.
i. P2097 - Downstream Fuel Trim System 1 Rich
ii. P2099 - Downstream Fuel Trim System 2 Rich
This condition can occur when the vehicle is driven at highway speeds, 70mph (112 kph) or greater and two good trips are achieved. Under these conditions the PCM mistakenly sets the DTC.
NOTE:
If the driver did not drive the vehicles under the conditions above then the issue is most likely a exhaust leak or another condition. Follow the diagnostic procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT to diagnose this condition.
The PCM software has been updated to accommodate this condition.
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition or if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine and transmission systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's other then the ones listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:
a. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
