SUBJECT: Safety Recall 91S26 - 1991 Explorer Fuel Tank Front Heat Shield.


AFFECTED VEHICLES 1991 Explorer two door vehicles built from
Job # 1, 1990 to November 5, 1990.


REASONS FOR RECALL The front heat shield may contact the upper front corner of the fuel tank and cause a cut or gash.
Should this occur, fuel may leak when the fuel tank is more than half full.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.

To correct this condition, the heat shield will be modified to prevent any further contact with the fuel tank.
