Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove ignition wires.
2. Loosen spark plugs and, before removing the spark plugs, use compressed air to remove any dirt or foreign material from spark plug areas of cylinder head.
3. Remove spark plugs.

NOTE: If a spark plug is removed for examination, it must be reinstalled in the same cylinder. Cylinder numbers 1, 2, and 3 spark plugs have a "PG" suffix. Cylinder numbers 4, 5, and 6 spark plugs have a "P" suffix. If a spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service part number suffix letter "PP" as shown on the engine decal.

INSTALLATION
1. Check and adjust spark plugs.






NOTE: Refer to the Spark Plug Inspection Chart under Spark Plugs, Cleaning and Inspection, in this section to determine the condition of the spark plugs.

2. To install, reverse removal procedure.
3. Tighten spark plugs to 9-20 Nm (80-177 in lb).
