Removal & Installation




REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then disconnect wire harness connections from the alternator and regulator .
2. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt, then remove 2 mounting brace bolts and mounting brace from alternator.
3. Remove drive belt.
4. Remove retaining bolts and alternator brace.





5. remove pivot bolt, if equipped, and the alternator.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the alternator (10300) on the engine.
2. Install the alternator pivot and mounting brace bolts, but do not tighten the bolts until the drive belt is tensioned.
3. Install alternator brace. Tighten retaining nut to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft lb).
4. Install the accessory drive belt over the alternator pulley.
5. Tighten the mounting brace bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft lb) and pivot bolt to 40-55 Nm (30-41 ft lb).
6. Connect the wiring harness to the alternator. Tighten output terminal nut to 9-11 Nm (80-97 in lb).
7. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: Vehicle specific information about operation, stored in PCM using battery backed up memory, may be lost when battery is disconnected. If this occurs poor engine performance, stalling and other driveability problems may occur. It may be necessary to drive the vehicle for up to 10 miles to allow the PCM to relearn this information.
