REMOVAL

NOTE: To prevent glass and paint damage, do not pry LH windshield wiper pivot arm or RH windshield wiper pivot arm from windshield wiper with metal or sharp tool.

1. Turn ignition switch to the ACC position. Turn multi-function switch to LO. Allow windshield wiper motor to move linkages of windshield wipers three or four cycles, then turn multi-function switch OFF. This will place windshield wipers in park position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2. Lift up cap on LH windshield wiper pivot arm and RH windshield wiper pivot arms to expose nut that holds the arm to wiper pivot shaft.
3. Remove two nuts (one from each wiper arm) and lift each wiper arm to the service position and carefully rock the arm toward front and back of the vehicle to loosen the arm from the pivot shaft. Lift arm off pivot shaft.
4. To remove LH windshield wiper pivot arm and RH windshield wiper blade, squeeze tabs of plastic clip together and pull windshield wiper blade from hook of windshield wiper arm.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: The windshield wiper pivot arms are made of a soft metal and do not have hardened serrations to automatically position the wiper arms. Before installing the wiper arms, cycle the windshield wiper linkage by turning the ignition switch to the RUN position, turn on the wipers and let them run for at least 15 seconds. Turn off the wipers and when they stop (park position), turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

1. Install windshield wiper blade onto new replacement windshield wiper pivot arm.
2. To install windshield wiper pivot arm, position arm and blade assemblies on pivot shaft of windshield wiper. Refer to the following illustrations to arrive at correct position of wiper assembly. Make sure the windshield wiper pivot arms do not contact cowl top vent panel or A-pillar when they are cycled.

NOTE: When reinstalling windshield wiper arms that were previously stripped, be sure that knurls on pivot shafts of the windshield wiper are free of any metal shavings or debris before installing new windshield wiper pivot arms.

3. Install nuts on pivot shafts of windshield wiper and tighten to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft). Close and snap on nut caps. Failure to properly tighten nuts on shaft may cause wiper arm to slip on shaft and not clean windshield.
