Vacuum Diaphragm: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. On 1992 models with 2.9L or 4.0L engines, remove nut from studded bolt, heat shield from studded bolt, then the clips on frame.
2. On all models, disconnect hoses from vacuum unit.
3. Remove vacuum unit retaining bracket and bolt, or studded bolt, being careful not to pry or bend bracket.
4. Pull vacuum unit from transmission case, then remove vacuum unit control rod.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque retaining bolt to 80-106 in lbs or studded bolt to 70-98 in lbs.
b. On 1992 models with 2.9L or 4.0L engines, install heat shield on studded bolt and push retaining clips on pan rail, then torque nut on studded bolt to 70-98 in lbs.
