Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Throttle Body Replacement (Turbo):
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove accelerator cable from throttle body.
3. Remove air duct from throttle body.
4. Mark vacuum and coolant hoses for ease of reassembly and remove hoses from throttle body.
5. Disconnect Throttle Position (TPS) sensor, idle switch, and Bypass Air Control (BAC) valve electrical connectors.
6. Remove engine lifting bracket mounting bolt from throttle body.
7. Remove coolant line/EGR hose retaining bracket from throttle body.
8. Remove attaching nuts from throttle body at intake plenum.
9. Remove throttle body and discard gasket.
INSPECTION
Throttle Plate Inspection:
CAUTION: Do not remove thin sealing coating from throttle plates or bore.
1. Check that both throttle plates move smoothly when throttle lever is moved from fully closed to fully open. No. 2 throttle plate is factory preset to begin opening approximately 25° (M/T) or 10° (A/T) after No. 1 plate.
2. If not as specified, replace throttle body assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Install in reverse order of removal.
2. Tighten throttle body attaching nuts to 14 - 19 ft lb (19 - 26 Nm).
3. Check and adjust accelerator cable.
