Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

Throttle Cable/Pedal Assembly:

REMOVAL

Throttle Cable Replacement:

1. Remove cable end from throttle lever.
2. Remove speed control cable end if equipped. It is only necessary to remove speed control cable from accelerator pedal assembly.
3. Remove cable retaining bracket located near throttle body on intake plenum.
4. Remove cable retaining bracket located on right end of intake plenum.
5. Squeeze lock tabs and remove cable end from pedal assembly.
6. Squeeze lock tabs securing cable housing to bulkhead and remove cable assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Position cable housing into hole in bulkhead and snap into place.
2. Install cable end onto accelerator pedal and snap into place.
3. If vehicle is equipped with speed control, install speed control cable end onto accelerator pedal assembly and snap into place.
4. Install cable retaining bracket to right side of intake plenum. Install cable retaining bracket located near throttle body to intake plenum.
5. Install cable end onto throttle lever.
6. Adjust pedal free play and wide-open throttle position.
