This power rack and pinion steering gear has an integral valving and power assist system, Fig. 1.

The valve body is an integral part of the steering gear housing. A pressure line and return line attach the pump to the gear, while a rotary valve directs high pressure hydraulic fluid through external oil lines to the correct side of the rack piston.
