Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
1. Remove valve cover.2. Alternately and evenly loosen rocker shaft attaching bolts, then carefully lift rocker shaft assemblies from cylinder head. Do not remove hydraulic valve lash adjusters from rocker arms unless necessary.
3. Remove rocker arms and springs from rocker shaft.
4. Measure outside diameter of rocker shaft and inside diameter of rocker arm shaft bore. The maximum difference between these two measurements should not exceed 0.004 in. Check hydraulic valve lash adjuster for wear and damage and replace as necessary.
. Pour engine oil into rocker reservoir. Apply engine oil to hydraulic valve lash adjuster and install in rocker arm, if removed. Use care not to damage O-ring when installing.

6. Assemble rocker arms and springs to rocker shaft. Rocker arms and shafts can be identified as shown.

7. Install assembled rocker shaft assemblies, with oil holes facing down, to cylinder head. Tighten attaching bolts alternately and evenly in sequence shown to 22-28 Nm (16-21 lb ft). When tightening rocker shaft attaching bolts, pull back on rocker arm springs.
