Shifter A/T: Service and Repair

1. Place gearshift lever in the "1" position.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove parking brake console panel ashtray.
3. Remove parking brake console.
4. Lift shift console, then disconnect electrical connections.
5. Remove shift console, then the gearshift knob.
6. Lift transaxle control dial bezel, then disconnect electrical connections.
7. Remove transaxle control dial bezel, then the shift cable and bracket.
8. Disconnect shift lock actuator electrical connections, then remove shift lock actuator.

Interlock Cable Removal:

9. Loosen locknut "A," then remove ignition/shifter interlock cable. Do not loosen locknut "B." It is factory preset for proper shift interlock operation.
10. Remove gearshift selector.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
