Removal and Installation

1. If the rear brake shoe and lining are to be reused, inspect the rear brake shoe and lining and measure the thickness.
2. Install the rear disc brake rotor, if removed.

NOTE: If the rear brake shoe and lining are reused, they must be installed in their original positions.

3. Install the rear brake shoe and lining retaining clips. Position the shims on the rear brake shoe and lining. Position the rear brake shoe and lining into the rear disc brake caliper anchor plate.
4. Install the anti-rattle spring onto the rear brake shoe and lining.
5. Install the rear disc brake caliper onto the guide pin. Pivot the rear disc brake caliper over the rear disc brake caliper anchor plate.

6. Grease and install the brake caliper bolt. Use Disc Brake Caliper Slide Grease D7AZ-19590-A (ESA-M1C172-A) or equivalent. Tighten the brake caliper bolt to 34-39 N-m (25-29 lb ft).
7. Position the parking brake rear cable and conduit into the rear brake operating lever and rear disc support bracket.
8. Install the parking brake rear cable and conduit retaining clip.
9. Adjust the parking brake rear cable and conduit so there is NO clearance between the cable end and the rear brake operating lever.

10. Tighten the parking brake rear cable and conduit adjusting nut.

11. Turn the brake adjuster screw CLOCKWISE with an Allen wrench until the rear brake shoe and lining just touch the rear disc brake rotor.
12. Turn the brake adjuster screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE one-third turn.
13. Install the wheel. Tighten the wheel hub bolt nuts to 88-118 N-m (65-87 lb-ft).
14. Road test the vehicle to ensure proper brake operation.
