Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair


REMOVAL
1. Remove the brake tubes from the primary and secondary outlet ports of the master cylinder and brake pressure control valve.
2. Remove clutch cable bracket retaining bolt, if equipped with manual transmission.
3. Remove the nuts retaining the master cylinder to the booster assembly.
4. Disconnect brake fluid level indicator electrical connector.
5. Slide master cylinder forward and upward from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Position master cylinder assembly over booster push rod and onto two studs on the booster assembly.
2. Install the retaining nuts and tighten to 21-29 Nm (16-22 lb ft).
3. Install the brake tubes to the master cylinder and brake pressure control valve.
4. Install clutch cable bracket retaining bolt.
5. Connect brake fluid level indicator electrical connector.
6. Fill reservoir to MAX line with brake fluid.
7. Perform system brake bleeding procedures.
8. Operate brakes several times, and check for external hydraulic leaks.
