Caster and Camber

CASTER
Caster is controlled by fixed vehicle dimensions and is NOT adjustable, but it is checked as a possible cause of a variety of suspension system problems. If not within specification look for damaged suspension components, deteriorated bushings, or distorted body mounting points.

CAMBER

NOTE: The front struts can be mounted in the strut towers two ways, resulting in a camber variation of approximately 1/2°. White alignment marks on the front shock absorber mounting brackets indicate which setting is in effect. These marks should be on the outboard side of the struts if the setting has not been changed from the original installation. Changing the setting will increase camber by approximately 1/2°. Conversely, if the marks are inboard, camber can only be reduced. If camber is not within specification limits, increase or reduce the camber setting:

1. Raise the vehicle until the tire is clear, and remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the front shock absorber mounting bracket nuts at the top of the strut tower.

3. Lower the front coil spring and front shock absorber to clear the studs and rotate the front shock absorber mounting bracket 180°.
4. Install the front coil spring and front shock absorber in the shock tower and tighten the front shock absorber mounting bracket nuts to 46-63 Nm (34-46 ft. lbs.).
