Fluid - M/T: Service and Repair

DRAIN
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the drain-plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain into a suitable container.
3. Install the drain-plug using a new washer and tighten the drain plug to 40-58 Nm (29-43 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower the vehicle.

FILL
1. Remove the speedometer cable sleeve and speedometer gear.
2. Fill the transaxle with Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose ATF XT-2-QDX. Refer to transmission fluid capacity for specifications.
3. Check the transmission fluid level. MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.
