Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
A Hall Effect type Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) is used.

OPERATION
The CMP sensor detects when number one cylinder is at top dead center and sends this information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), where it is used to control fuel injection timing.
